HELLSEED is a creepy first person horror adventure where you are solving puzzles and facing some intense action scenes. You play as a detective digging into the strange disappearance of a doctor from a psychiatric hospital in Turin.
The story kicks off as you investigate the doctor’s house but things get unsettling fast. There is this dark presence that seems to follow you giving off some serious chills. Who—or what—wants you gone? How is it all connected to the missing doctor?
These are the mysteries you have to unravel to get to the truth and the game’s powered by S2ENGINE HD, so the graphics are incredibly lifelike, really drawing you into the creepy atmosphere.
It feels like you’re in an old-school Italian horror movie, full of jumpscares and references to Italian culture. Some of the scares come at random, and there’s this “possession” system that keeps you on edge, as if the house itself is trying to fight you.
As a detective you are piecing together clues and talking to different characters each interaction bringing you closer to the dark secrets buried in that place. There is an inventory system to keep track of items and a clipboard helps you map out the connections between characters and events, making you feel like a real investigator.
At a certain point things take a wild turn. You are not just looking for clues—you are running and hiding from shadowy figures that are out to get you. The game throws in different challenges like reflex based moments where you have to act fast to stay alive.
The horror’s not just in the story, though. The realistic, gruesome details ramp up the intensity, making every encounter and scare hit hard. To give players some control, HELLSEED includes a few customizable options.
You can turn quick-time events on or off, adjust tips for gameplay hints, and choose whether to have indicators for stamina and energy. There’s also an option for help with finding items, like flashing keys and important objects if you want a bit of guidance. But if you’d rather go in fully blind and let the horror take over, you can disable it all and dive into the full, terrifying experience.
