Alright, imagine this: It’s 1998, and a private jet owned by the Roottree Corporation just crashed. Onboard were the Roottree Sisters and their parents, a family worth over a billion dollars. Sounds wild already, right?

But here’s the twist: their great-great-grandfather, Elias, had some pretty eccentric ideas. Now all that cash has to be split among the remaining family — but only real blood relatives get a piece. That’s where you come in.

Your weapon? A dial-up modem (yes, the screechy kind) and your mission is to hunt down old photos, books and articles to uncover family connections. As you piece the puzzle together, filling out the family tree, things get trickier. 

The more spots you nail down, the harder it gets to figure out where the remaining names and clues fit. Think you can solve the mystery and make sense of the Roottree chaos? The Roottrees are Dead is back and better than ever.

Originally made for the Global Game Jam 2023, it blew people away with its retro-style puzzles, quirky computing vibes, and a world dripping with late ‘90s nostalgia. It is still the same brain-twisting detective game but with a ton of new features that make solving mysteries smoother and even more fun.

Oh, and here’s the cherry on top: there’s a brand-new mystery included, called Roottreemania and it dives into the aftermath of the original story with a fresh family tree full of secrets, scandals and drama from the empire of maple candy moguls. So get ready to flex your detective skills and uncover what really went down with the Roottrees.

How to Download & Install THE ROOTTREES ARE DEAD

1. So, click on the download button available below and upon clicking it you will be taken to the website (PixelDrain) that hosts the pre-activated game file.
2. However, there you will find a download button click on it and the game will start downloading. Then wait for it to finish downloading. In some cases, there will be a timer so you will have to wait. After that timer ends then you will have to click on the download button.
3. Once the game THE ROOTTREES ARE DEAD is done downloading, go to the folder where the download is present, and from there right click the .zip file and click on “Extract the Game” (To do this you can use 7-Zip or WinRAR, which you can get here).
